Here I have gathered the most commonly asked questions regarding IP.Board.

    Make sure to check this topic before asking a simple question like;

How do I edit my reputation system?

This is a common issue, and most people decide to deal with it after it becomes an issue, but that should be the first thing you do before adding forums or advertising.

    Here's how:
    • Go to the ACP and login.
    • Go along the left-hand side nav. bar.
    • Select "System Settings".
    • Go to the "Members" tab.
    • Find the reputation system, and edit it. Make any changes you need, like the +/- system, but what you really want to do is make sure that members cannot give themselves reputation.
    And you're done.

How do I change the background(s) for my skin(s)?

I've been getting this question lately; "How do I change the background for my skin?".

    Here's how:
    • Connect to your host via FTP.
    • Go to /public_html or whereever you uploaded your files.
    • Go /public/style_images/
    • After that, look for the name of the skin that you wish to alter.
    • Then find a folder named "backgrounds" and if it doesn't exist, try a folder that contains images.
    • After you have found the background(s), feel free to change them.

How do I upload a skin?
    • Download a theme from a website, making sure you've read the two bullet points above.
    • Extract it to somewhere easy to find, like your desktop.
    • When you look through all the directories, you will fall upon one with two files.
    • This step is very important, when you're importing the theme, you have to import both the image set, and then the actual theme. It is important that you know which of the two files is the image set, and which of the two files is the actual theme. Most of the time, the image set will be named images-themename.xml.gz, or something similar to this.
    • After you've uploaded both of those files successfully, you still want to make the theme visible for others, in that case, you go to the theme settings, and tick the button that says "make theme visible" or something similar to that. You may also want to remove the (Import) from he name of your theme, it look a whole lot better.
    • And finally, if you want to make the theme your default theme, while doing the steps above, also tick the "make default theme" button. (Name may not be correct, but it will be clear to you what I mean once you're editing the theme).
And you're done! Enjoy your theme.

How do I change the title of my site?

This isn't really a question that is asked mainly because most users don't ever notice it; you want to look professional by editing the name of the site from "Invision Power Board" to your board title. If not, "Invision Power Board" will show up as the name on the tab.

    Here's how:
    • Go to the ACP, and login.
    • From there, go through the left-hand side and look for an option that says "System settings". It will give you a wide range of options, but you only need to edit one.
    • Go to "General Configuration", and edit the site title.
After you're done, your header should be your actual site title.

How do I change the name of my site on my skin?

This one is quite tricky, and in order to do this with text, there will be alot of things that need to be edited. For example, some skins don't allow you to add text as the header, so you'll have to upload a logo, but most allow you to add text, so don't worry.

    Here's how:
    • Go to the ACP and login.
    • Go to "Look & feel", along the top nav. bar.
    • Click on the name of your skin.
    • You will be greeted by something looking similar to this; http://prntscr.com/2ei56z . If you're not, click on "defaultHeader" along the left-hand side of that little nav. bar.
    • You will have to look through that code, and edit the name from your current name to a name of your choice. Since it might be different, I suggest you look back at your forums for a more secure edit.
    • VERY IMPORTANT: Click "save" to save your progress.
    And you're done!

How do I change the formatting of my group?

This is very easy to do, but it requires time.

    Here's how:
    • Find the group you wish to format, or make a new one to test.
    • Click on the little pencil next to the group name; that's what allows you to edit the group.
    • You will be greeted by this: http://prntscr.com/2ei66u . That's the only section you need to worry about, everything else is about permissions and such.
    • Edit this: http://prntscr.com/2ei6d8 . Here's some codes you can use to format:
<spanstyle='color:grey'> //Edit "grey" with any color, but it must be a real color!<b> //This will make the group bold<i> // This will make the group italisized. or any other BB code.
    • After you've done everything above, you can try to edit the group badge or anything else you need, but make sure to save your changes.
    And you're done.

How do I change my favicon?

Since this can not be done through the ACP, you will have to manually drag the favicon you want into your server (by using Filezilla, or things similar).
