    In this example we'll be changing the AdminCP directory to "x_admin".

    Step 1: Rename the Admin Directory on your FTP.

    Most FTP clients make this easy, you should simply be able to right click your 'admin' directory and click "Rename". Below is a screenshot from FileZilla.

    For more help with using FTP please see our FTP basics guide.

    Step 2: Create or Modify constants.php file.

    The next (and final thing) you need to do is add a new file called 'constants.php' in your forum root - in the same place as initdata.php - with the following contents:
    <?php
    define('CP_DIRECTORY','x_admin');
    If you already have a constants.php file, simply add the 'define' line to your existing file.

    This should change the admin directory name for you.
